Employment law attorney Rayl Stepter thinks more time needs to pass before the severity of claims from workers who believe they’ve been wrongfully terminated can be gauged.

A workplace discrimination attorney, Rayl Stepter founded his practice in Columbus in 1993 to focus on employment law, civil rights and civil litigation to fight “for the rights of employees.” A native of Columbus, Stepter, 46, has a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Michigan and got his juris doctorate from Harvard Law School.

What circumstances these days lead a fired employee to claim wrongful termination?

The common patterns I’m seeing are pregnancy discrimination claims, family and medical leave claims, disability discrimination claims and a resurgence in sexual harassment claims.

What role is the economy playing right now? It’s been reported there’s been a big spike in these cases as the economy has soured.
