Why did you decide to become an attorney?
I became a lawyer because I truly believe that the rights of injured people need to be protected. Insurance companies and large corporations have huge resources, yet they won't pay for the harm suffered by the injured person. Someone needs to make it right. Injured people need help getting their medical bills paid and they are entitled to recover compensation for harm caused to them through no fault of their own.
What experiences (work and personal) help you to be a better attorney?
I represented a firefighter who was involved in a motorcycle accident when another motorist turned in front of him. He almost died in the hospital. The doctor told him that he would never work as a firefighter again. I watched that man fight to walk again. I saw him overcome hardship anger and depression. He returned to the fire department and he is a firefighter to this day. I am inspired by that firefighter every day. His example pushes me to fight for my clients who must overcome so much hardship on the road to recovery.
What made you choose your primary area of law?
I chose to practice in the injury and malpractice areas of law because of my uncle who was an attorney. I became interested in helping injured people after hearing about his clients and their cases. He told me what it was like to represent injured people in court and said that it was an honor because his clients had lost so much and he had the privilege of helping them put their lives back together. He often faced large companies and he did not back down. He said that a victory is sweeter when the opponent is a corporate bully and I've come to agree with his assessment.
What makes your law firm unique?
We limit our practice to representing people who have suffered serious bodily injuries or the loss of a loved one. Concentrating in these areas has helped us gain knowledge of the problems that arise when a family member is injured or killed. Our clients are entitled to compensation when they've suffered an injury or the loss of a family member as the result of someone’s negligence. Whether that "someone" is a drunk driver, a hospital or a major corporation, we will use every legal means available to maximize the value of a client's claim and to obtain money damages for them in the highest possible amount. Our #1 priority is to protect the citizens of Ohio. We feel that our success rate shows that we care and are dedicated to each and every client.
Describe your ideal client.
My ideal client is someone who fights to overcome their injuries. My clients amaze me by the way they struggle heroically to overcome injuries. It is an honor to fight on behalf of my clients and to have the privilege to take a wrong and make it right. We represent the people, not the powerful.
