Why did you decide to become an attorney?
From the time my grandparents emigrated to America from Europe, it has been a long-standing family dream to have a lawyer in the family. I was encouraged from a very young age to be a lawyer. Growing up, I never envisioned being a lawyer who represented injury victims but I have truly enjoyed my over 20 years of helping injured folks get fully and fairly compensated.
What experiences (work and personal) help you to be a better attorney?
Being a parent and being on a school board help you to be understanding of the needs of others and of the truth that there is not usually just one right way to view a problem. Having represented thousands of injured people over the years, I know that each one is unique and has his or her specific concerns that need to be addressed.
What made you choose your primary area of law?
I always thought I'd be a business, tax or corporate lawyer but I found that I got greater satisfaction from helping people get compensated after an injury. Helping someone pay off their bills and get money to rebuild their lives is truly rewarding.
What makes your law firm unique?
Clients are involved every step of the way. From receiving copies of important documents such as medical records, adjuster letters, lawyer letters to having a true voice in the settlement of their case. I don't just sign up a client and then he or she hears from 6 months later that the claim is settled. Also, I actually communicate directly with my clients and not a case manager. If you hire the lawyer, you get the lawyer!
Describe your ideal client.
My fee contract requires that the client be a part of the process. If you don't care about your case, why should I? So I need a client who cares about getting better. I want a client who will come to me with questions or concerns and not rely on an internet posting. I want a client who believes that working with a lawyer on the injury claim is a team effort, it works out better if we work together.
