I graduated from Northwestern University, in 1994, with both a B.S. in Industrial Engineering and a B.S. in Manufacturing Engineering. I then went on to earn my Master’s of Science in Industrial Engineering from The Ohio State University in 1996. I attended the Moritz College of Law at The Ohio State University, earning my Juris Doctorate in December of 2004.

I formed Brewster Law Office in 2009, following four years as an Assistant County Prosecutor in Highland County, Ohio. As Assistant County Prosecutor, I prosecuted adult and juvenile criminal offenses and children's services abuse, neglect and dependency cases for Highland County. Before embarking on a second career as an attorney, I attended Northwestern University, graduating in 1994 with both a B.S. in Industrial Engineering and a B.S. in Manufacturing Engineering. I then went on to earn my Master’s of Science in Industrial Engineering from The Ohio State University in 1996. I spent the next five years as a technology and business processes consultant with Accenture before making the decision to become an attorney.

I was ready for a change in career from engineering consulting and I'd always been interested in the law. I made a decision to pursue a law degree after watching a news report about a father who had fallen asleep on the couch with his infant son laying beside him. Sound asleep, the father had rolled over the baby and smothered him. It was a tragic situation but more tragic was that the prosecutor in the case was charging the father with manslaughter. I remember thinking that I wished I could help the father fight the charge and I decided then to pursue a career in law.
My degrees in engineering and science really taught me how to think logically and solve problems. That straightforward approach to putting pieces together and solving problems has been very helpful in my law practice. My time as a consultant taught me to work well with different people from different backgrounds and I use that today to better work with clients, attorneys, and judges. My four years as a former prosecutor gave me an intimate understanding of the criminal justice system, especially my time spent prosecuting Juvenile Court matters. There are significant differences between juvenile and adult cases, including both the punishments for the crimes and the rights of the accused; I have the knowledge and experience to provide the best possible defense.
Criminal and Family Law both appealed to me in that they require someone who is skilled at helping clients through particularly emotional legal matters. Facing a criminal charge is a complicated situation in which to find yourself. It can be intimidating and overwhelming for anyone but there is no need to face it alone. I will be there to guide you through every step of the process and vigorously defend your interests and rights. My job is not to pass judgment on you. It is to listen, to recognize your desires and objectives for the case, and then to achieve the best possible outcome for you. Emotions can also run high when facing the end of a marriage or questions about custody of your children. You need an attorney who understands that and will listen closely while helping you determine your goals and objectives. Once those are known, we can work together to achieve them. I will protect your interests and safeguard your rights while helping you through a difficult process.
My law firm is unique because of my time as a trial attorney and my degrees in engineering. When I was prosecuting criminal matters, I was on the other side of the criminal law issues that my clients are facing and I use that experience to the benefit of my clients today. While most cases are resolved prior to trial, everyone has the right to demand one. At trial burden is on the prosecutor to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that you committed the crimes for which you were charged. You need an experienced trial attorney to vigorously present your side to the judge or jury. Your attorney is your voice during a trial. With my experience from thousands of cases and nearly a hundred trials, you can be confident you will receive the best defense possible.
In my free time, I like to read and play golf. I like to take my dog (a great mutt from the pound) for walks and I'm a big Buckeye fan. I have fond memories from my grade school years in Ohio, of organized parades around the school with all the kids in Buckeye gear on the day before the Michigan game.

The amount of any retainer required for hourly representation depends upon the complexity of the case, the amount of work to be done initially, and the anticipated duration of the case.

Fixed, flat rate fees are available for all types of cases, allowing a client to know the full cost of their representation from the start. Such fees are based on the type and complexity of an individual case.
Representation is available for all matters on an hourly fee basis. A reasonable retainer is required.
